V2N (Vehicle-to-Network) is V2X communication in which a vehicle connects through a cellular network to cloud, backend or network services.
How V2N works
The vehicle uses the cellular network — described by 3GPP using the Uu interface — to exchange data with application servers or backend systems. That can extend connected services beyond the immediate radio range of the vehicle.
Common V2N roles
V2N can support traffic information, cloud services, backend coordination, remote information distribution and network-assisted V2X applications. Some use cases are safety-related; others are broader connected-car services.
V2N vs V2N2X
V2N describes the vehicle-to-network connection itself. V2N2X emphasizes that the network is helping the vehicle communicate or coordinate with another “X” — such as another vehicle, infrastructure or a service.
