Honda Hybrid is Honda's next-generation hybrid powertrain and customer-facing technology name, building on the company's established two-motor e:HEV system.
Honda Hybrid vs e:HEV: what changes?
Honda says the new system advances the engine, electric drive unit and control technology developed for e:HEV. Its targets include a wider high-efficiency engine operating range, a smaller and more efficient drive unit, and a stronger balance between fuel economy and acceleration feel. Honda Hybrid is a new generation and communication name; Honda has not said that every existing e:HEV model will immediately be renamed or replaced.
When will Honda Hybrid arrive?
Honda plans to introduce the first vehicles globally from 2027 and launch 15 next-generation hybrid models by the fiscal year ending March 31, 2030, primarily in North America. That is a company plan, not a list of confirmed market-by-market sale dates.
What about the platform and all-wheel drive?
Honda describes a newly developed, lighter platform with optimized body rigidity and a newly developed electric all-wheel-drive system. Final specifications, fuel economy ratings, model-specific configurations and local pricing have not yet been announced for every future model.
Is it a plug-in hybrid?
The October 9 announcement describes Honda's next-generation hybrid technology; it does not establish that all Honda Hybrid vehicles will be plug-in hybrids. Do not assume a charging port or a particular battery size until Honda confirms the specific vehicle.
